Community Wisdom: My Best Beauty Gift

What was the best beauty or skincare gift you ever got? The beautiful fragrance that became your signature scent? The skincare wonder (hint: Daily Doser) that finally soothed your skin? Perhaps your BFF  advised on a treatment, recommended a skincare subscription or surprised you with a gift card to get exactly what you wanted?

We asked our community on The Collective – that’s you – the best beauty gift you ever received?

Laura: I haven’t got it yet but I know that my sister has bought me the Cult Beauty More Colour Bauble for Christmas, I can’t wait! It looks so beautiful.

Alison: My late Mum bought me an Estée Lauder boxed makeup collection when I was 16 years-old. It was my first ever makeup. It looked so beautiful in the box with its lipsticks, blushers and eye shadows in blue and gold packaging I didn’t want to open it! I was the envy of all my friends at school! I’m 58 in two days time and still love Estée Lauder makeup.

Dawn: When I was first diagnosed with rosacea in my mid-20s I was really down about the state of my skin, so I decided to go to Clinique for a full beauty regimen. My dad came round later that night with an envelope to cover the cost – a bit of a backwards gift but it meant so much to me.

Abi: For my 40th my friend gave me Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream. It’s so luxurious and sinks in so quickly, also great for dried out winter skin.

Paula: For me it’s the time I give myself to self-pamper, even if it’s just that little bit longer to cleanse my face or that little bit longer to apply Skin + Me in the evening. That’s what makes me feel really pampered – time!

Lindsey: For my 40th my best friend bought me a Liz Earle set and I loved it. My tastes have moved on but that’s probably when I first started getting into skincare and really thinking about what I put on my skin.

Michelle: I got a Clinique gift set for Christmas when I was a teen, it was my first branded makeup and I loved it. I was so gutted when I used it up and some of the products were discontinued.

Gemma: I remember the year my mum got me the Simple skincare range – cleanser, toner and moisturiser. I was 12 years old. This is not me backing Simple, but that was the year I fell in love with all things skincare.

Selina: The Elemis Superfood Collection Set.

Stacey: My best beauty gift ever has been Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. I’ve used it for years and the scent now evokes memories of morning-after-the-night-before with friends, holidays, weddings, babies. It’s my comfort blanket beauty product.

Becky: Me and my mum share the Soap + Glory Christmas Hamper every year. Depending on who needs what out of the box. Also my best present HAS to be the whole collection of Lush Bath Bombs one year.

Thanks for all of your contributions. Some of the tips above have been edited for clarity and brevity. Head over to The Collective for more.
