Community Wisdom: Skincare Resolutions For 2024
When we have a burning question here at Skin + Me HQ, we often turn to our community of skincare fans – AKA The Collective – over on Facebook. There you’ll find thousands of people sharing tips and tricks as they support each other on their personal skincare journeys – it makes us feel all warm inside to see how the group has grown.
So, with 2024 fast approaching, we wanted to know all about the simple yet effective skincare resolutions they are planning for January. Read on for their responses, and perhaps you’ll feel inspired too.
Nicole: Mine is to wear SPF daily even when it’s cloudy!
Kaatje: Not getting tempted to touch spots! Most of all not being too judgmental on my skin for its imperfections.
Steven: I am going 100% recyclable and 100% cruelty free.
Lydia: I don’t have any skincare resolutions because I love my routine already! I like to keep things simple with a cleanser, eye cream and SPF 50 in the morning, then cleanser, my Skin + Me Daily Doser and moisturiser in the evening. So more of the same in 2024 – consistency is key.
Aylish: Using reusable cleansing pads!
Hannah: Touch my face less, leave spots alone and wear SPF daily.
Tamsyn: I resolve to actually finish skincare products that work rather than switching to a new shiny one halfway through a pot!
Louise: I’m keeping it simple and using less products – obviously sticking to my Skin + Me as it’s essential.
Lesley: Keep to the Skin + Me programme, sort out my rosacea and not panic about ageing so much.
Lauren: I’m going to make sure I wear SPF every day even if it’s overcast and I’m not leaving the house. Last year I stopped using face wipes.
Joanna: I’ve recently started using Skin + Me and I’m loving it, so my resolution is to continue with my regime, but also taking care of my skin by drinking more water, eating better and taking better care of my wellbeing.
Julie: My skincare resolution is finding the right stuff for me. I learnt the importance of SPF through my years with Skin + Me and have found the perfect one and now I want to find my ideal cleaner and moisturiser. It’ll take some trial and error but I’m excited for my Daily Doser to accompany me and keep my skin in check.
Jo: I’m going to permanently make the switch over to reusable cotton pads.
Fee: I’ve got good at applying suncream every morning. But my resolution is to reapply throughout the day – I’m terrible for that at the moment!
Lee: Drink more water. My routine is good but I’m terrible at drinking water!
Tessa: I’ll remind myself that ‘actives are everything’ and where I should be consistent. I’ll be avoiding being swayed into trying new products that promise so much but don’t have the ingredients to match. Skin + Me’s simple face washes and moisturisers and my favourite SPF is all I need.
Danielle: I’ll wear SPF 50 every day, come rain or shine, continue to double cleanse each evening and continue with my Skin + Me journey.
Charlotte: I’ll wear sunscreen daily, keep to the Skin + Me programme, don’t skip days and do a weekly face mask.
Resolutions from the Dermatology Team
Need a little more inspiration for your 2024 skin goals? Here are some top tips from our Dermatology Team to help you create a resolution you can stick to.
Dr Ben Esdaile: I tend to strip down people’s routines to get the most out of the actives they put on their skin. I try to help them tolerate more powerful actives and the key agents are a gentle cleanser and hydrating non-occlusive moisturisers.
Dr Jason Thomson: Re-think and hone your skincare routine – clear out all those products in your bathroom cabinet that haven’t lived up to their promise or given you the results you were looking for and are simply cluttering up your space.
Dr Malvina Cunningham: Everyone’s skin is slightly different and will have different needs. It’s very individual – your best friend’s skincare routine may be perfect for them but maybe unsuitable for your own skin.
Dr Beibei Du-Harpur: I would suggest choosing a product and sticking with it. It is important to be consistent in your use of a product, not just for getting results, but also to ensure you are actually getting the active ingredient you are paying for!
Final thoughts
We hope you’re feeling inspired by our Skin + Me members’ resolutions and might want to think of one for yourself.
Remember, we’re all for positive personal progress – instead of setting unrealistic expectations, think of something simple you can do to keep your skin happy and healthy. Your main goal should be to feel great, never guilty.
Here’s to happier, healthier skin in 2024!
