Here&#8217;s a chap you want around the house. Not only is George an all round great guy and champion of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/sustainability\">sustainable<\/a>, cruelty-free cleaning products &#8211; he\u2019s got a penchant for skincare that does what it says on the tin.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having started his journey with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/\">Skin + Me<\/a> nine months ago, George wanted to target <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/acne-treatment\">acne<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/hyperpigmentation\">pigmentation<\/a>. He struggled with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/mythbuster-purging-explained\/\">purging<\/a> but after seeing his skin texture improve and acne fade, has improved self confidence to face the world &#8211; and his fans on the \u2018gram <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/geo.cleans\/\">@geo.cleans<\/a> \u2013 with his best skin yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of our <strong>#PositivePersonalProgress<\/strong> campaign across <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/\">Skin + Me<\/a>, we spoke to George to find out more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Skin + Me: <\/strong><em>You started your <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/skinandmehq\/?hl=en\"><em>Instagram<\/em><\/a><em> account just a few years ago and have grown slowly to carve a niche for yourself in eco cleaning hacks and a dabble in skincare. How do you think your self <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/community-wisdom-how-does-good-skin-make-you-feel\/\"><em>confidence<\/em><\/a><em> has grown in tandem with this project?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>George: <\/strong>I\u2019ve never been a shy person but talking on camera and having to listen to myself back was absolute hell at first. Over time I began to get more comfortable with it. I\u2019ve always had an interest in cleaning and skincare so my account was more for me to find like minded people to chat with, learn from and support. The knowledge and research I did around cleaning \u2013 and skincare \u2013 coupled with the connection I found with other creators is what\u2019s given me confidence.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Skin + Me: <\/strong><em>You say \u2018don\u2019t overthink cleaning\u2019 on <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/geo.cleans\/\"><em>your instagram<\/em><\/a><em> &#8211; how do you think this applies to using the <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/our-ingredients\"><em>Daily Doser<\/em><\/a><em>?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>George: <\/strong>Keep it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/dermatologist-recommended-skincare-routine\/\">simple<\/a>, if it\u2019s over complicated you won\u2019t stick to it \u2013 or at least I know I won\u2019t! I also highlight the issue of mixing chemicals and staying safe. A similar idea applies to my skincare routine and active <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/our-ingredients\">ingredients<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a lot actives in cumulative lotions and potions if you pile them on. Cruelty free and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/sustainability\">sustainable<\/a> was actually the deciding factor for me to start <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/\">Skin + Me<\/a>. The aluminium doser can be recycled infinitely! Who wouldn\u2019t want that? I don\u2019t understand why larger corporations can\u2019t make a similar move!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Skin + Me: <\/strong><em>You explain in your video, \u201cIf I could go back in time I would tell my younger self to not think an oily complexion doesn&#8217;t need moisturiser.\u201d It\u2019s crazy what we tell ourselves as we grow up isn\u2019t it? Do you think people are better informed these days about skin type and corresponding care?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>George: <\/em><\/strong>Yes! The huge amount of information we have to educate ourselves now is great. However, I think there\u2019s more misinformation out there now too. My hope is that the most influential skincare gurus signpost <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/what-people-say\">people<\/a> towards scientific research and science-led brands like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/\">Skin + Me<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone\u2019s skin is different and everyone&#8217;s opinion has the potential to go viral. I hope people will learn to separate true science and anecdotal opinion better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Skin + Me: <\/strong><em>You also say, \u201cAlways wear <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/5-dermatologist-approved-spfs-for-everyday-wear\/\"><em>SPF<\/em><\/a><em> <\/em>\u2013<em> don\u2019t listen to the old wives\u2019 tales like \u2018the <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/hello-sunshine-why-we-need-vitamin-d\/\"><em>sun<\/em><\/a><em> will clear up your <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/what-people-say\"><em>acne<\/em><\/a><em>\u2019 Obviously, it&nbsp;just doesn\u2019t!\u201d It sounds like you tried everything to tackle your acne &#8211; and even got through <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/mythbuster-purging-explained\/\"><em>purging<\/em><\/a><em> during the first few months of your treatment with your <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/our-ingredients\"><em>Doser<\/em><\/a><em>. Does this feel like the definition of #PostivePersonalProgress to you <\/em>\u2013<em> making it out the other side?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>George: <\/em><\/strong>My skincare journey has been tumultuous. My <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/acne-treatment\">acne<\/a> started at 14-years-old. I tried everything I could find to tackle it.
