Tom<\/strong><\/h5>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Ellen and Tom had been a couple for just over a decade when Tom got down on one knee during a sunny walk through East London in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ellen recalls, \u201cIt was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/post-lockdown-skincare\/\">lockdown<\/a> and I remember it vividly. We\u2019d actually just passed the Olympic park and Tom was walking really slowly and wearing a massive coat \u2013 even though it was boiling \u2013 so he could hide the ring in his pocket! I laughed and said yes straight away. I think he was relieved that I accepted but also relieved that he could take his coat off! We\u2019re both really excited about having a big party with everyone we love this summer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, with their wedding just four months away (having been delayed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/post-lockdown-skincare\/\">Covid-19<\/a>) the real work begins. Ellen and Tom are prioritising a commitment to make the wedding their best day ever &#8211; with their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/myth-buster-what-does-healthy-skin-look-like\/\">healthiest<\/a>, happiest skin yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just in time for Valentine\u2019s day, we chat with them as new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/\">Skin + Me<\/a> subscribers to learn more about their skin goals, their new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/ask-a-dermatologist-dr-jason-thomsons-skincare-routine\/\">routine<\/a> details and their wedding inspirations ahead of the ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re incredibly grateful to Ellen and Tom for sharing their special journey with us. Hats (and tissues) at the ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"wedding-skincare-goals\"><strong>Wedding skincare goals<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ellen\u2019s on her skincare before Skin + Me:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have dry sensitive skin and I\u2019m prone to monthly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/ask-a-dermatologist-how-do-hormones-affect-my-skin\/\">hormonal<\/a> fluctuation breakouts. My skincare <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/blog-skinandme-com-ask-a-dermatologist-where-do-my-spots-come-from\/\">routine<\/a> previously was a double cleanse with micellar water, face wash and then <em>Steam Cream moisturiser <\/em>in the evenings. I\u2019m always rushing between work and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/ask-a-dermatologist-can-the-gym-cause-breakouts\/\">gym<\/a> so the quicker the better when it comes to getting ready and back to my desk after a workout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ellen\u2019s on her skincare after Skin + Me:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I cleanse, use my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/daily-doser-spotlight-2\/\">Daily Doser<\/a> and moisturise every night. It contains tretinion, niacinamide and azelaic acid. I\u2019m being more vigilant than ever with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/5-dermatologist-approved-spfs-for-everyday-wear\/\">SPF<\/a> every day because I know tretinoin can make skin more sensitive to the sun. My wraparound routine is simple. Clinical <em>Cleansing complex<\/em>, <em>Avene Tolerance Extreme Cleansing lotion<\/em> and <em>La Roche-Posay Effaclar H Moisturiser<\/em> are my products of choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ellen on her wedding skin goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cI\u2019m planning to wear minimal, natural-looking makeup on my big day and let my skin do the talking. The products in my routine now are SkinCeuticals Simply Clean Gel and NeoStrata Bio-Hydrating Cream.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tom on his wedding skin goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want to look back at pictures of us being happy, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/myth-buster-what-does-healthy-skin-look-like\/\">healthy skin<\/a> and confidence on our wedding day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"a-skincare-love-story-ellen-and-tom-s-wedding-inspiration\"><strong>A skincare love story. Ellen and Tom\u2019s wedding inspiration<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Wedding makeup<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">Ellen will be doing her own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/community-wisdom-makeup-tips\/\">makeup<\/a>. She explains, \u201cI\u2019ve had professionals do it in the past and I\u2019ve always thought that I didn&#8217;t look like \u2018me\u2019. I\u2019ll try not to wear makeup in the few weeks leading up to the big day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">\u201cOn the wedding day I know I\u2019ll use Mac Prep and Prime and MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/all-about-the-base-expert-party-skincare-and-makeup-tips\/\">base<\/a>. I\u2019ll also have my eyelashes and brows tinted beforehand so my look stays fresh day to night.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Hair<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">\u201cMy regular hairdresser will be coming to my house in the morning to wash and blow dry my hair. I like the glossy but natural look. Should I have it \u2018half up\u2019? That\u2019s something we\u2019re in conversation about. I\u2019ll also be using masks and conditioning treatments in the weeks leading up to the day and having regular trims.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Nails<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">\u201cI\u2019ll have acrylic tips applied a few days before with a classic french manicure finish. They won\u2019t be too long though, I\u2019m still hoping for the natural \u2013 but polished \u2013 nail look.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Venue<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">\u201cWe\u2019re getting married in a beautiful Grade II listed Chapel overlooking Epping forest in East London. It\u2019s very traditional and I\u2019ll have a long aisle to walk down!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Flowers, decor and invites<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">\u201cI\u2019m lucky that one of my best friends is a great graphic designer and is designing all our invites, table plans and our order of service. It\u2019s very rustic and natural with lots of greenery and florals. Another friend is a florist, and has kindly offered to do our flowers. I&#8217;ve requested seasonal blooms with a lot of blush pink flowers and eucalyptus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Food<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">\u201cWe\u2019re having a three-course meal including all our favourite foods, including Tuna Tartare and a trio of desserts \u2013 I couldn\u2019t pick just one! Having vegan and vegetarian options is important to us as is lots of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skinandme.com\/the-dose\/how-bad-is-alcohol-for-my-skin\/\">nice wine<\/a> and of course, champagne!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Music<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">\u201cTom is a musician. He plays piano, guitar and steel drums. Having the right music to set the mood for the day means a lot to us. Tom\u2019s father is from Trinidad so we\u2019ll have steel drums playing during the canape reception. Pan music always makes everyone happy. A big wedding band is booked to arrive for the party later and will play requests for our guests.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Theme<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">\u201cWe don\u2019t have a specific theme. The venue is beautiful and classic. It speaks for itself. We\u2019re just trying to include all the things we love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">\u201cAlthough aesthetics are a key part of the wedding, it\u2019s all about feeling happy and our guests enjoying themselves while sharing our special day. Putting in the work now to get glowing skin for the wedding is a great way to help us face the day with confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>N.B<\/strong> Watch this space.
